October 2024

Hi Everyone,
Ben has shared with me the good news --  the dogs beds have been delivered to the Daphne Animal Shelter.

These aren't just any ole dog beds.  Our Florida Alabama Toy Breeds Club delivered 12 Kuranda dog beds to the Daphne Animal Shelter on 10/30/2024.

Deaon Bryant, the manager, said their grand opening will be on Saturday November 16, 2024.  The time to be determined.  We have all been invited to attend their opening.

Ben stored the beds at his home until the new shelter was ready to receive them.  Ben says the new shelter is awesome and the dog beds were greatly appreciated.

I have attached a few pictures Ben sent me of their memory wall and one of the beds.

Thank you Ben for helping us with this donation.

Florida-Alabama Toy Breeds Club Donates Canine Vests

The Florida-Alabama Toy Breeds Club having recently become licensed, determined as one of its missions is to reach and help all canines, including service dogs. To achieve this mission, they have held several fund raisers and 2 dog shows, contributing the profits to the purchase of a vest.

Finding out the Mobile Police Department's K-9 unit was in need of a bullet proof vest for one of their K-9 officers, the club was excited to present the vest to Lawrence Battiste, Assistant Chief of Police, Mobile Police Department. On hand were 2 fellow police officers (far left), which coincided with a G.R.E.A.T (Gang Resistance and Education Training) program event. On hand to present the vest were several club members including President, Durwood Headley, Club secretary, Jean Headley, Cheryl Schoenfeld and Sharon Emmons, Club Members.

Because of being called into duty, Canine Officer Oscar, a German Shepherd, and his human partner were unable to attend this event. This picture was made the day before.

The Fl-AL Toy Breeds Club has also donated dog food to various shelters, raised money for the Louisiana Flood Victims and helped a club member/handler when his van and trailer were destroyed.

Thru funds raised from Dog Show raffles, the Club has now been able to present a second vest.

Third Vest - 2024

The Florida -Alabama Toy Breeds club has once again presented a K9 Officer with a protective vest to wear in the line of duty. Our goal is to support K9 officers in our region of Mobile, Baldwin counties in Alabama and Escambia, Santa Rosa counties in Florida. We also look for other canine related areas and support them.

This year we donated to the Saraland Police Department of Saraland, Alabama.

In front, Saraland Police Officer Collette Little works with Bartje, a Police Dog, KG with Saraland's Public Safety Department. Bartje is shown wearing a safety protection vest donated by the Florida-Alabama Toy Breeds Club. The presentation was given by the club's representative, Sharon Emmons. during the City Council's June 24 meeting.
